SHIPMENT
When
packaging the CLONE KIT with the prepared semen, make sure that all equipment
needed for the shipment and the insemination are included and
placed in the package according to the drawing in the
instructions.
The semen will cool down to 5 - 13 degrees
centigrade during the express shipment to the bitch owner and
will be motionless until activated at the time of
insemination. At any time the semen :
should not get too cold during transport (not under 5 degrees
C)
should not get too warm (not above 15 degrees C)
You have 36 – 48 hours to use the semen, after it has been collected and processed, so you should ship the package immediately the fastest possible way:
1. Counter to counter (often the best, fastest and cheapest way).
The stud owner arranges in advance with an airline and the bitch owner to send the package by air freight, takes it to the airport freight terminal and the bitch owner arranges for fastest possible delivery at the destination freight terminal.
2. Express Carrier, a carrier service like FedEx, DHL, UPS for fast delivery.
The time of the shipment depends on between which countries the shipment will go. Some demand more than 48 hours for the delivery so this should be checked before deciding on which transportation to use. The time of use of the semen after the collection can be extended if longer lasting Ice Packs and /or larger and more isolating packaging are used.IMPORTANT!
If, in the country you intend to import semen from, there is no Clone Office and therefore no Kits readily available, it is still possible to get semen with the Clone Kit to you, as you can send Kits to the stud dog owner or their veterinarian in advance, well in time before the intended insemination. The instructions in the Kit are so clear that no special training is needed for the use of the Clone Kit to collect and ship the semen to you. As the vials of solution should stay frozen until use, the Kits should also in this case be sent the fastest way, as above. They can then be stored in the freezer at the stud dog owner or veterinarian until you are ready to breed the bitch and they can collect the stud dog and send the semen.You should agree with the stud dog owner about all these practical arrangements well in advance so everything is set to go once your progesterone test tells you when your bitch is ready to breed. Some countries need paperwork from the veterinarian about the collection of the semen and most often paperwork from the stud dog owner about the stud dog is needed for the registration of the puppies, so you should find out the rules of your country for this in time before the insemination.

Frozen Semen has to be shipped in a so called Dry Shipper. The Dry Shipper has been filled with Nitrogen and the excess then poured out. The Dry Shipper will stay cold for at least a week. Therefore the shipment does not have to overnight and you can use a company like FedEx, Dhl or other.
Different countries have different rules for importing frozen
semen so your Clone Office will help you prepare the shipment and the paperwork
needed wherever you want to ship it. Clone will also rent you the tank to
you for as long the transport forth and back will take so you have to remember
to reserve a tank for the shipment a couple of weeks ahead at your
veterinarian so there is one available at the time of the shipment.
If you are importing Frozen Semen you should do it well in time before the
breeding as the semen can be stored at your CLONE veterinarian as long as
needed. All paperwork needed can in this way be done in time and you will be all
set when your bitch comes in heat.
